For the past thirty years, homes have been built "tighter.” Tighter homes are more energy efficient, but many are not able to “breathe.” The result is that homes do not bring in enough fresh air to dilute harmful chemicals and vapors that may build up in the home. In addition, many cleaners, personal care products, building materials and appliances we use today give off gases as by-products of their use. Some of these chemicals and gases can be harmful to our health and aggravate allergies or asthma.
