Who We Are and What We Do
The Indoor Air Alliance (IAA) is a nonprofit organization established in 2006 to raise awareness about the importance of indoor air quality to the health and quality of life, in particular for at-risk populations. The Indoor Air Alliance exists to provide education, in-home environmental screening and solutions.
Mission Statement
There has been an alarming and steady decline over the past decades in the quality of the air in our homes. This decline in air quality has a negative effect on our health, particularly for at-risk populations such as the elderly, infirm, infants, disabled and those with asthma or airborne allergies. The Indoor Air Alliance seeks to increase general awareness about the importance of indoor air quality through education, advocacy and analytical testing of indoor air quality using the most advanced equipment and techniques available.
Education and Outreach
IAA works with community organizations and health care professionals to educate target audiences on the potential health effects of indoor air pollution. Target audiences include organizations that provide services to the elderly and to persons with disabilities; and clinics and medical practices that specialize in treatment of patients with asthma, allergies and other disorders adversely affected by indoor air pollution. Advocacy
IAA seeks to affect public policy on indoor air standards by providing information to local, state and federal level policymakers.
In-Home Environmental Screening
IAA helps individual homeowners identify air pollution issues in their home. IAA offers screening for indoor air pollutants (CO, CO2, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), particulates, temperature and humidity) and mold. IAA also offers allergen and ductwork screening. IAA provides recommendations to the homeowner on indoor air issues and methods to remediate any adverse conditions found in the home. IAA technicians are certified by the Indoor Air Quality University (IAQU), a national training organization that provides indoor air quality education to heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) contractors and home inspectors across the country. IAQU is a member of the National Association of Certified Home Inspectors (NACHI) and provides Indoor Air Quality certification training for members of the International Association of Certified Indoor Air Consultants (IAC2).
